Weather permitting, Scotholme Primary School will take on small leap for a school but one giant leap for school-kind in January. We are waiting for a North North Easterly wind to allow us to take on our most ambitious mission yet. Can a frog reach space?

The willow fencing around the keyhole garden and the nature elephant looks amazing and will develop over the years to give a natural looking addition to our playground. Thank you to all of the volunteers and everyone who put so much hard work into putting the fence together.
Parents' Evening will be happening tomorrow night (as well as a super moon!). If you don't have an appointment yet, please book one for next Monday. Tomorrow night sees a 'Super moon' rise in the sky. The moon is closer to earth than at any time in the last 68 years! See this website for more information. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/amp.space.com/34515-supermoon-guide.html?client=safari Please make sure that you have completed any homework that was set before the holiday and make sure you bring it back in on Monday 31st October when we all return to school. If you haven't already, make sure that you have logged into Sumdog and Active Learning (Bug Club) before the end of the holidays (Year 1 will receive their Sumdog log-ins when they return to school).
The consultation about academising has now ended. Thank you for attending the meeting in school and for passing on your thoughts and opinions. The Department For Education has granted us an academy order, which means we should be able to join the Shine Mutli-Academy Trust towards the end of 2016. Please come back to our website for more information in the next few months.
The school football teams had their first match of the season this week. The boys, unfortunately, lost to St. Mary's Hyson Green. The girls played in a tournament at Powerleague and defeated St. Mary's! Well done girls!
6N will be visiting IntoUniversity at the Vine Centre next week. Please make sure that the permission letters are returned to school on Monday. Their graduation will be on Friday at The University of Nottingham. More details of the time and location of the graduation will be posted early next week. Year 6 went to Holme Pierrepoint on Thursday. Information is on the Year 6 blog page and also the Safety page. We had a great morning, working with lots of different organisations, finding out how to stay safe in a variety of situations. Thank you to all the helpers and the students who guided us around. |
